4. Mesh Maps Baker¶
A stand-alone baker for mesh maps, to disk, independent of the stack — for a mesh you want maps for outside Overpaint, or to bake a set of maps once and keep the files. It is above the main OP Painter panel.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Texture name, Size | the file stem, and the size (the paint size, or 256–8192) |
| Device, Samples, Margin, Format | the Cycles device (GPU by default), 32 samples, 16 px margin, PNG or TIFF |
| Selected only | bake the selected meshes rather than every visible one |
| Maps | AO (with a distance), Curvature, Thickness and Edge (with a radius) on by default; Position, World Position and Normal off |
| High → Low (by name) | pairs name_high with name_low (the suffixes are editable), with a cage, cage extrusion, max ray distance and a cage preview |
| Bake Mesh Maps | writes the maps into <blend>_Data/Textures/Baked Maps next to the .blend |
Generator Inputs can also create or bake the helper maps required by one generator. This panel is for baking standalone map files, or a complete set of maps, rather than configuring one generator's inputs.
