11. UDIM

Press UDIM in the main panel: it switches every material of the active set (or the solo material) to tiled painting and converts the existing canvases without discarding their content. From then on:

  • new paint canvases are tiled, start with tile 1001 (add further tiles in Blender's Image Editor), and are saved as name.<UDIM>.ext, one file per tile;
  • painting, procedural bakes, filters, layer composites and the export all work per painted tile;
  • Material Paint writes all carried channel images on the tile under the stroke; other tiles remain independent;
  • object-set rebuilds re-project each tile, and the revert restores each tile;
  • tile files are backed up before a rebake and can be restored.

Nothing else changes in the workflow: the stack is the same, the brush is the same, only the storage and the export fan out per tile.
